管理自己 Managing Oneself
"Managing our life instead of managing others — managing oneself is really important. We are too distracted with the ambition to manage our surroundings and others, when we should really put some effort in managing our own life."
管理我们的生活而不是管理他人,其实管理自己是很重要的。我们常常因为想要管理周遭事物的欲望而分心散乱,当我们真的要花一些精力来管理自己的生活时——
"Most important aspect of our life is this mind that we have. Many times we don't pay enough attention to this so called mind. Because maybe mind is too abstract for a lot of people."
实际上,我们生活中最重要的是我们都拥有的心。很多时候,我们对这个所谓的心没有给予足够的重视。因为,可能对某些人来讲,心是非常抽象的。
关于创伤 About Trauma
"We all have, depending on different degrees, we all have trauma. In the modern world, when we talk about trauma we can only talk within the limit of this life."
我们每一个人都有不同程度上的创伤。在现代世界讨论创伤的时候,好像只是局限在这一世来讲。
"Buddha taught us that what is right at this very moment is very much to do with what happened a moment ago. What happened this month has a lot to do with what happened last month. According to Buddha, there is a lot to do with a life before this, and even way before 500 lifetimes."
佛陀教导我们,当下此刻所发生的事情,和我们片刻前是息息相关的。这一个月发生的事情也跟上一个月有关系。根据佛陀的说法,这一世发生的事甚至可以追溯到500世之前。
"In the modern world, we can only trace to childhood trauma or trauma from last year. We don't really go beyond that. But what has happened in many many past events definitely had an impact on what's happening now."
在现代社会里,我们只能追溯到童年的创伤或去年的创伤,并没有真正超越这一点。但实际上,在过去发生的许许多多的事情中,肯定对现在发生的事情造成冲击。
我们该如何处理创伤 How to Address Trauma
"What Buddha said is: of all the therapy, the most important therapy is dealing with what is happening right this very moment. We don't need to trace the source of our trauma all the way to childhood or past lives. All we need to do is deal with what is happening this moment."
佛陀教导我们,在所有的治疗中,最重要的治疗是处理当下此刻正在发生的事情。我们不需要追溯创伤来源,追溯到童年或过去的生活。我们需要做的就是处理好当下此刻发生的事情。
"Whatever you are doing right now — just dwell in that state for one minute, and dwell only on that."
无论你现在在做什么,就在当下这种状态停留一分钟,只是安住在这里。
"Concentrate on a sensation in your body — it can be very big or very subtle. If you can just monitor the sensation, it can really help dealing with trauma."
专注于身体里的一种感觉——它可以是很大的,也可以是很细微的。如果你能监控这种感觉,它真的可以帮助处理创伤。
"Look at this mind that is constantly knowing something, thinking of the past, thinking of the future. Next 1 minute — just look at this mind that is doing the thinking."
看着这颗心,它不断去觉知一些事情,想着过去,念着未来。接下来的一分钟,只是看着正在进行思考的心。
"Distraction and concern — this kind of distraction can cause trauma. Because trauma creeps in, emits hope and fear. Trauma is an emotional shock following a stressful event. When our mind is busy with 'should I stop, should I not stop?' — you give chance for this shock to happen more."
这种分心散乱可以造成某一种的创伤。因为创伤悄然而至,散发着希望和恐惧。创伤是随着压力事件发生的情绪冲击。当我们的头脑忙着纠结该停止还是继续,就给了这种情绪冲击爆发的机会。
最重要的是当下此刻 The Present Moment is Most Important
"So that is using 5 minutes of our time in this life — looking at the most important attribute you have, which is your mind. Looking at the most important time, which is the present moment."
刚刚在我们生命里使用了5分钟的时间——看着我们所拥有的最重要的东西,就是我们的心。看着当下此刻这个最重要的时间。
